NAS Data Recovery Service
Synology or QNAP NAS won't boot? RAID rebuild failed? Stop trying — we specialise in NAS data rescue. No recovery, no fee.
A NAS is supposed to protect your data — until the NAS itself fails, and you realise what's inside matters most. CentralComputer.hk specialises in NAS data rescue across brands — from a 2-bay Synology at home to an 8-bay QNAP in the office.

What Our NAS Rescue Covers
All-Brand NAS Data Rescue
We handle all major brands — Synology, QNAP, Asustor, WD My Cloud and more. Whether it's SHR, RAID 5 or Basic, we know how to read each disk and rebuild the array.
Failed RAID Rebuild Rescue
The most common disaster: one disk fails, you swap in a new one, and a second disk dies mid-rebuild. Stop trying at this point — we have a dedicated workflow for exactly this scenario.
Dead NAS Units
NAS box fried, PSU dead, red light on boot? A dead NAS doesn't mean dead data. As long as the disks are intact, we can read them directly — no need to wait for manufacturer repair.
Accidental Deletion & Reinstalls
Deleted a shared folder by mistake, formatted the wrong volume, reinstalled DSM? If not much new data has been written, chances are good. Power down the NAS and call us immediately.
Process
Our 4-Step NAS Rescue Process
Stop Trying, Power Down
After a NAS failure, every boot and every rebuild attempt can make things worse. Power it down and note the brand, model, disk count and previous RAID configuration.
Free Diagnosis & Quotation
Bring us the disks (no need to lug the whole NAS — disks only). We mirror each disk, analyse the RAID structure, and tell you what's recoverable, how much, and the cost.
Virtual RAID Reconstruction
We virtually reconstruct the RAID on the mirrors — your original disks are never touched. Volumes and shared folders are recovered one by one for your verification.
Handover & Backup Advice
Data is copied to your new drive or a storage device we provide. We'll also advise on prevention — off-site backups, snapshot schedules and the like.
Case Study
Real Customer Case
A photo studio in Sha Tin had their 4-bay Synology go red one day — inside was a decade of clients' original photos. The owner was in tears because several clients needed old photos for anniversaries next month. She was about to buy a new disk and rebuild herself. Luckily she called us first — our check found more than one disk had issues. Had she rebuilt, the whole RAID could have collapsed.
In the end we spent five days mirroring each disk and virtually reconstructing the array, recovering every photo. As she verified folder by folder, she teared up and said we'd saved her entire business. Her NAS now has off-site backup, auto-syncing every night.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
No. For data recovery we only need the disks — label them in order (Bay 1, Bay 2…) and bring them in. If you're not comfortable removing them, we'll come to you. One client thought their QNAP was dead; our on-site check found only a failed PSU. A PSU swap brought it back with zero data loss, saving the full recovery fee.
RAID 5 theoretically survives one disk failure, but two failed disks don't always mean total loss. It depends when the second disk failed and how many bad sectors it has. Sometimes the second disk only has a few bad sectors, and specialised tools can read sector-by-sector and rebuild most data with parity. Every case differs — per-disk diagnosis (free) is the only way to know.
SHR is essentially Linux RAID (mdadm) plus LVM — recoverable, and we know it well. The tricky part is SHR often mixes different disk capacities, so reconstruction needs care. We've handled many SHR and SHR-2 cases, including accidentally deleted Btrfs snapshots.
It depends on capacity and damage. A 4-bay NAS with a few TB typically takes 3–7 working days. Urgent cases can be expedited — we once recovered a design firm's entire Synology project archive within 72 hours so they could deliver to their client.
Diagnosis and quotation are free. Pricing is based on bay count, total capacity and damage complexity, quoted in writing before work starts. If diagnosis shows it's unrecoverable, or you're not satisfied with what's recovered, you pay nothing. That promise is on the quotation — not just verbal.
